A new addition to the family!

We're left for Halifax at around 7 this morning to pick up my new "baby" and to do a little shopping while we were there.

This was my first trip to Halifax without having to visit a doctor!!! Woo hoo! Can you tell that I was and still am excited? That in itself was reason enough to celebrate!!!

We returned home at about 3 this afternoon from the 250 mile round trip...tired but oh so happy!

Mr. Painted Quilt is happy because the fridge and freezer are both full from our shopping spree at Costco.
My Bernina 1080QE will be retiring after serving me faithfully for the past eighteen years.
"Baby Bernie"...who is still waiting to be unpcked...is going to have some big shoes to fill because not once in eighteen years has Old Bernie had a repair issue.
Baby Bernie will be sharing my sewing studio with Big Bernie, my 750QE which was, is and always will be my dream machine.
I'm just too tired to unpack her now but you know what I'll be doing first thing tomorrow morning.

Now what's more important...a new sewing machine or jam-packed refrigerator? You don't even have to guess at my answer. *wink*

Happy stitching!

  2. Congratulations on the new machine, they do so much more, now a days. I guess I need to shop for the holiday weekend, but I think I rather be out in the nice weather;)

  4. Congratulations on the new Bernina! While I *love* my 630, I wouldn’t turn away a 750 or 780 if I had the chance to get one. ;) Enjoy yours!

  9. I am sure you will enjoy your new bernina, mine is now 21 years old and never been serviced! I have a friend who has one that is 42 and still working, you have certianly given yours an early retirement.

  11. Even the most ardent quilter has to stop for refreshment once and a while. Hope you enjoy your weekend putting the new baby through its paces. Nothing like that `new machine`smell.

  14. Is that a Costco chicken I spy...so perfect for dinner and lunch and dinner again...or a pot of soup! Love each of my Berninas, a 930 from 1985 and a 153 from 2001. Love them equally only one very minor repair on the 930 years ago. Enjoy!

  15. Two things top onmy list....a monthly trip to Costco and a new sewing machine! I hope you get as much love from Baby Bernie as you did from the old fella, Kaaren ;>) I'm so glad to hear your trip didn't involve a doctor visit, too!
    Cheers!

  19. I'm curious about which of the line is your new "Baby Bernie"! Your too clever by turning the box around so we can't sneak a peek a the label.

  20. It's so tempting to get a new machine, my trusty Husqvarna is getting old and works well but a bigger throat so I can quilt more would be really useful - maybe I will treat myself - but which one to get...?
