A Finish!

Remember this?

DSCN0797

Well here it is now…a perfect summer quilt for Emily’s room!

DSCN1137

Before moving to Nova Scotia, I belonged to a guild whose members included some very prolific and innovative quilters.  Some of their handwork, including both appliqué and quilting, were second to none.  To add to the mix, we were also fortunate to have Alice as a member, who just happens to be an incredible longarm quilter.

Just before we moved, Alice announced that she would be taking some time off from quilting for other people as she had a stack of her own flimsies that just never seemed to make it onto her frame.  Thankfully Alice reads my blog and when she agreed to quilt my granny squares flimsy, I was thrilled.

So I packed up my quilt and shipped it off to Ontario with the instructions to ‘do whatever you want with it whenever you can fit it in’ and when it arrived back here on Monday, I was absolutely over the moon with the artistry that Alice performed on it.

Have a look!

Here’s a closer look at the free motion quilting.

DSCN1134

Awesome, huh?

DSCN1135

It was my original intention to add prairie points around the perimeter but decided not to because I thought that they would interfere with the flow of the quilted feathers on the outside border.  I finally decided to go with a simple binding using the same red polka dot fabric that appears throughout the quilt.

Now I’m faced with trying to decide on what to start next.

Decisions, decisions!  If only they were all this difficult.  *wink*
