Look What I Got!

I just came back from the post office in our little town because I've been expecting some orders I recently placed for fabric and other related goodies but alas...they haven't arrived as yet. Am I disappointed? Absolutely not! You should see the wonderful surprises I received instead!

I'm going to detract a little first...sorta like dangling a carrot...just to prolong the suspense.

I've only been blogging for just over a month now and it just boggles my mind not only the amount of people I've "met" from all over the world, but the friendships that have begun to grow in such a short period of time. When you meet someone in person, it isn't too difficult to see whether a connection has been made or not. So much can be read into facial expressions, tone of voice, the firmness of a handshake or a hug to say hello or goodbye. It's not that easy with the written word, especially when you've never met the person. So much can be misinterpreted when all those other things are missing.

But enough dangling because my excitement to show you what I got in the mail today is killing me. A parcel, neatly wrapped in brown paper, was handed to me by the lady who works in our little post office with the announcement for all the other patrons to hear, "It's from the states!" "Thank you," I said while running down the stairs.

Home couldn't come soon enough. I jumped into the van and hurried (notice I didn't say sped) home. After unlocking the door and without even looking, I threw the other mail down on the table, grabbed the scissors and cut open the package. Lo and behold, this is what was inside.

There was a cello wrapped package tied with a pretty red bow.

I could make out my favorite colors...red, white and blue. My heart was beating even faster now. I untied the bow and unpacked the treasures inside one by one.

Enclosed I found a red, white and blue wall hanging which Karen pieced together so perfectly and left for me to complete as I desire. Thoughtfully included were the strips for the binding. And did you notice the hexagon pin cushion?

Just recently I started to collect pin cushions and I'm wondering if I happened to mention this to Karen at some point...hmmmm. Inside a little hexagon pin keep was this little note.

"A little treat for the winter blues! Hugs, Karen." Even though Karen and I have never met in person, this is a hug I truly felt. Karen, a big hug of thanks to you in return.

Friends are special, but blogging friends are somewhat special-er. I am truly overwhelmed.

And do you know what else? No bills in the mail today!

Happy stitching!
