Baked ham with pineapple raisin sauce, home made baked sweet potato fries and Brussel sprouts with garlic and parmesan cheese.
Even if you dislike Brussel sprouts, I promise you'll
I've been making some progress on my Down in the Garden quilt by Leanne Beasley, albeit kinda slowly.
Between stitching, I finished November's flimsy for the small-quilt-a-month group that I belong to. We meet on the last Tuesday of the month for show-and-tell. Last month I waited until the day before the meeting to make the October quilt and although I love it, I learned a lesson to NOT wait until the last minute! I don't know why I do these things to myself!
This month I started in on our second project the day after the meeting and finished piecing the flimsy a couple of days later. Lots and lots of tiny pieces to this one!
I made mine entirely from Civil War and reproduction prints and shirting fabrics from the same era. Now it just has to be quilted which hopefully will happen before our next meeting.
In the interim, I've come up with two new designs and now I just have to decide whether to make quilts with them or to use them in some other kind of project.
Stay tuned because I'll be sharing them with you as soon as they're done.
Happy stitching!
Love your little quilt with all those tiny pieces. Not sure I'd have the patience to make that one. The Civil War fabrics look wonderful. I belong to a small quilt club at Primitive Gatherings using the patterns from Tara Darr's book, Small Treasures from Scraps, and also one from Temecula Quilt Co. Fun patterns and lots of Civil War fabrics.
ReplyDeleteI like the piece with all the little triangles. Makes a sweet piece and something easy to display.
ReplyDeleteHi Kaaren,
ReplyDeleteDinner looks wonderful. Wish I lived closer.
I am joining in the Small Quilt Club from A Needle Pulling Threads Quilt Shop.
Haven't finished the first one, but my second arrived in the mail Thursday and started it yesterday.
Hope to finish in time for your Tuesday gathering so I can send a picture.
Love these little quilts. They make great leader, ender projects too.
Looking forward to seeing your latest patterns.
Hope you weather is improving. Have a nice day.
Dianne
Love your new little quilt. Great fabrics you've chosen! Quite the supper you prepared. Bet you enjoyed it!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I enjoy brussel sprouts very much. I put them in soups and also cut them in half cook with a bit of water and butter on the stove top then mix in a bit of mustard to make a butter mustard sauce very yummy with the strong flavor of these.
ReplyDeleteOn your projects keep them coming each one seems lovelyer than the on before it. I'd really like to meet once a month for a couple of hours with ours to just do hand work, knitting, stitching , crochet what ever and share tid bits of helpfull or hard learned stitching secrects of course the talking among friends too
Thanks for the brussel sprouts recipe...sounds yummy. I'll give it a try this week. Your stitching is lovely. I saw a finished Down in the Garden quilt a few years ago and wanted to make one ever since. I am unable to locate a shop near me that sells Leanne's patterns
ReplyDeleteOh, my goodness, that little quilt is SO cute! Okay if I pin it?
ReplyDeleteI too enjoyed ham with sprouts but I had roast potatoes and parsnips too and certainly no garlic!!
ReplyDeleteWonder how small that mini quilt is as there are a great deal of pieces in it so fiddly I find small so fiddly to do with such big clumsy hands that I have got
I *almost* want to try your brussel sprout recipe. My hubby likes them, so maybe I'll give it a try. The new quilt is great and I love the fabrics you chose.
