An old friend that I had lost track of reappeared while I was organizing my studio last week.
Tucked away amongst the boxes and bins in the storage area under the dormer window, I caught sight of this old basket. My heart started to beat just a little bit faster.
I couldn’t wait to open the lid to catch a glimpse of what was inside.
How wonderful to see you again! I had forgotten how pretty you are.
It’s time we spend a little quality time together again, don’t you think?
We have so much catching up to do.
It should be so easy to pick up right where we left off over two years ago.
Let me fix a pot of tea and I’ll invite my antique Grandmother’s Flower Garden quilt to join us. After all, she was my original inspiration.
I’ll just carry on stitching as we catch up on all the news.

What a wonderful reunion Kaaren!!! I bet it was just wonderful catchng up, and it looks as though a lot of the prep work is already done, oh my!!! how exciting!! Another gorgeous quilt on its way to reality, hopefully we'll see this one before the year is out - no pressure LOL!!!!!

You have a beautiful antique grandmothers flower garden, that is quite a treat. And in such good condition.
Then you have a few good rows on the newer version. WOW! Is the plan for the quilt to fit your bed?
If so, that will mean quite a few sit downs, and watch a few movies/shows.
Have you watched Downton Abbey? Wonderful series. The Elizabeth Gaskell Collection (wives and daughters, cranford, north and south). Pride and Predudice. Such fun.

GFG. Little did she know I was sitting here stitching some hexies for a pin keep for my daughter. Thank you or sharing your beautiful treasure. My sister is contemplating finishing hers as well. I think she started hers a number of years ago.
This may just give her the noodge she needed.

Oh, how pretty!! Hexies are so addictive. I am trying not to notice my WIP that is sitting on the edge of the sofa, just waiting for me to grab a needle and add another hexie or two.
Your old friend takes my breath away! I too am working on a very cherished GFG! We draw lots of attention every where we go. My friend and I spend lots of time together these days and we drink lots and lots of coffee. Have a wonderful time with your grandmother's flower garden. Funny I was going to show off mine today as well.

Funny to know what we hide away and forget about. I have a picnic style basket way up high on a shelf. I know it has some smaller size quilt kits in it but I couldn't tell you which ones. You had a real treasure tucked away in yours.

I also have an antique 30's GMFG quilt and have always wanted to make one. Years ago my mother and I put a few blocks together but we new nothing about English paper piecing and just winged it so the blocks were never put together.
Seeing yours makes me want to get mine out and start again.
I started my PP GFG when my son was playing in the Little Leaugue All-Star games. I think he was 12. He turned 30 in March and the top is complete, just needs quilting...I even saved the fabric I wanted to use for the binding! You've inspired me to get it out and quilt it! I look at it from time to time, run my fingers over the 'flowers', remember the items I had made with some of the fabrics...and remember whatching the little boy, who is now a Man, grow up! Seems like yesterday!
