Demolition–Day 2

Jody and his assistant Jason arrived shortly after 8 a.m.  They set to work straight away, unloading tools, sheetrock, moulding, wood  and a bunch of other stuff.

By 10 a.m. the upstairs bathroom  was completely gutted right down to the studs…except for the bathtub.

They worked non stop until about 12:30 p.m. at which time they broke for lunch which I prepared for them…Cornish pasties, mashed potatoes, salad…and chocolate cake for dessert.

By 1:15 p.m. they were back to work and by 2:30 p.m. all the insulation and sheet rock had been installed.

The black and white tile on the floor is original to the house which we would have loved to keep but it unfortunately was not salvageable.

Shortly after 3 p.m. Jody and Jason called it a day and left to go and get the 15+ gallons of paint and additional supplies.  Tomorrow there will be 4 men here working, so we should really see some progress made by the end of the day.

And where will I be?

At my Tuesday hook-in from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.  Yay!

And no…I’m not going to show you the mess that we’re living in.

They are doing a nice job and working quickly, so that will be nice for you, not having a mess too long. Can't wait to see the finished look.

Isn't it wonderful to have workers that really do work?? We had both sets when we moved. And I would choose the fast efficient worker over the hourly wager any day.

Do you have to cook for your contractors? I thought that was nice of you!

How exciting to finally get things going! Your lunch sounds so yummy, be careful, if you keep feeding them so well, they may slow things down so they can enjoy wonderful lunches even longer!

Just asking, but if drywall/gyprock is in the washroom, especially around the tub, shouldn't it be the green waterproof one or the cement one?

I'm so jealous. We have two bathrooms that need redoing. We are hoping to do one over spring break. It will be me and my husband. It will take us two or three days to get to that point, I bet! Wow! Those guys did a lot of work in a short time! Very excited for you!

Real progress, Kaaren! I am intrigued by that diagonal beam in the middle of your bathroom? Is it a roof truss? You'll have such a surprise coming home after hooking tomorrow!
Cheers!

I know the kind of mess your living in. We do it quite regularly here. We seem to just get one mess cleared then we start another project and we got another mess. Nevermind though it's all going to be worth it in the end. Enjoy your crocheting day.

Those boys are doing a great job but how could they keep working after such a substantial lunch!

If I come help Jody and Jason can I share lunch? I've always provided for my movers...sort of a bribe so they take extra special care of my things.
