My house quilt is officially a flimsy!
The finished size is 74" x 86" and the blocks finish at 10".
I'm so sorry for the yucky photos but I can't seem to find floor space large enough to allow my house flimsy to lay flat, hence all the wrinkles.
I VERY seldom make two of anything but I think I'm going to make another, perhaps a scrappy red and white one... but not until I get this knee taken care of. I'll be seeing my family doctor next week and I'm going to ask her for a cortisone shot. Every time I look at this quilt from now on it'll remind me of the pain I "HAD" to endure while making it.
Thank goodness for the stop/start button on my machine or I'd never have been able to finish it! But that's okay because the hand work on my Brinton Hall quilt has been waiting patiently for my return.

still in Ontario. Then your big move. Sorry that you haven't been well but glad to hear that everything is on the up and up. See you still have Ollie. I know a big move as in downsizing and trying to find a place for everything takes a toll on us. we did that 7 years ago and we ended up looking like hoarders. Never thought I collected so much stuff. As well as fabric. I haven't bought any for a number of years and I have finally whittled it down to one shelf in my cupboard.

ReplyDeleteI too am fuzzy about what I asked of you!Did you write about glue sticks? I think I was trying to use a glue stick with wool applique. I am having trouble with my left thumb and hope to find a way to work with wool and not have to sew thru too many layers. Even the Steam-a-Seam 2 is too thick for me.
That's my closest guess...could it be my iffy memory?!

Lovely, lovely. I know what you mean about comfort zones. I love civil war quilts and fabrics, just drawn to them.. This house quilt is going to be a treasure for sure..hope your knee get better quick..

ReplyDeleteI just saw your batik house flimsy and wow! About 10 yrs ago I started moving away from the more primitive fabrics and toward those with more color - not modern fabrics but more uplifting. Why do we save certain segments of our stash? Because one day something like this comes along and my batiks are waiting. THanks so much for doing this.

I don't think there's a wrong combination of colors for a schoolhouse quilt, but I definitely do like the fabrics you chose for yours! Hope you've seen the doctor by now and he's given you that shot so you can feel more fit.
