I just have to share...

My great news!

Late Friday afternoon I heard from my doctor's office.  She was away but had her nurse assistant give me a call to say that even though the reports from the three CT scans were long and involved, they all showed that everything was fine.  Most importantly, the scan of the area where the cancer was found "showed no change".

Those were the sweetest words I think I've ever heard.

Both Mr. Painted Quilt and I breathed many sighs of relief and I felt like I'd been given a new lease on life...until the time for the next scan rolls around. I'll be finding that out after I meet with my oncologist on the 17th of this month.

When the words, "I told you so!" came out of Mr. PQ's mouth, all I could do was smile through the tears.  Under any other circumstance, I would have given him a good poke!  *wink*

Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers and encouragement during what has been an incredibly stressful month.  I know and feel in my heart that they all played a huge part in the results.

GIANT hugs to all of you!

Thank you as well for all the wonderful suggestions for the title of my new nautical quilt design.  I'm still working away at it and hope to have it completed by the end of this week and then I'll send it off to be quilted.

I've narrowed it down to the following titles so once again, I'm asking for your help with the final selection.  This time, not only will I give a copy of the pattern to the person(s) who suggested the name but I'll also do a random draw from all of you who picked the winning title.

Here is the short list...

Silent Sentinels
Safe Harbor
Harbor Lights
Candles in the Wind
Sentinels of the Sea
Guided by the Light
Briny Breezes
Seaside Sampler

Although it's dull and overcast here in paradise, the sun is shining in my heart.

A short while ago Ollie and I did a walk about in our gardens and we'd like to share them with you.

The rhubarb is huge already and after a bit more weeding, the tomato plants will go in tomorrow.

Have a wonderful week and don't forget to come back on Friday because this Friday, the 7th, will be the First Friday of the month and my FFF...or First Friday Freebie...is all done and ready to share with you all!

Happy stitching!

  21. Told you so...and I'm too far away to "poke". I know it must be a huge relief and I'm so happy! I'm still struggling with the red work on your ROM. I had to throw the first block out. The second block is finished but I'm too embarrassed to show it. I'm working on block 3 (which is my block 2). I might show you that one. At any rate, this is going to take a while but I so appreciate the chance to learn embroidery! Again, SO HAPPY for you!

  159. A big HUG to you, Kaaren from all of us here at the Squash House! Couldn't be better news!! Your gardens are gorgeous - so lush! For such a short time, you've done wonders! I'd know it was your house even if I didn't know you lived there ;>) Love the finalist names - my pick would be Candles in the Wind! They're all great, though!
    Cheers!

  161. So very glad to hear the good news!!! And thanks for being so open with your news. Now we can all uncross our fingers although the prayers will never stop. So Kaaren, carry on happily with life and what you do so well .... quilt!
I am a lighthouse, salt water, shore person so I love, love, love your new pattern. My choice for the name would be Briny Breezes. Doesn't that just flow out of your mouth nicely? And I can smell the salt water every time I say that name .... Briny Breezes. And it's such a cute name too!!! Whatever name you chose, the pattern will still be great!!

  171. The best news ever. My husband is in remission and I can remember the sense of relief upon hearing the 'very good news'. For so many reasons including your health and the obvious way we feel about the quilts we make, I think 'Safe Harbour' would be a wonderful title for your quit and pattern.

  183. I think the name should be Seaside Sampler because it tells exactly what it is, and it is beautiful. I would make it for my beach house bedroom in Illinois.

  184. I like "Seaside Sampler". Only one time in our married life have we lived in a coastal town and near the picturesque coast line of southern Australia, in Port Lincoln.
Loved the nautical sampler quilt you've made.

  190. My heart is full knowing your tests were clear! My name choice is 'Safe Harbor" hands down!! Has such a quiet, yet strong sound to it just like a lighthouse standing strong silent in the night.
