Problems!

What a day this has been!

I'm not 100% sure at this point but there is every indication that my Windows Live email account has been compromised...or HACKED!

Why can't the people who get their jollies from doing things like this GET A REAL LIFE???

I started having problems last night as I was answering your comments from my last post.  Every couple of minutes a pop up window would appear asking me to sign into my Live account.  I did a couple of times and then it just got to be so frustrating, I gave up and went to bed.  Then this morning, I could not sign into my account at all so it was obvious to me that someone found out and changed the password to my account and now I can't access it because I don't know the new one.

After contacting Microsoft, I had to answer a gazillion questions to satisfy them that I am indeed the REAL owner of this account.  I am still waiting for their reply.

Having said that, I have created a new email account which follows...

thepaintedquilt@gmail.com

If you received an email from me today from my old Windows Live account (thepaintedquilt@live.com), it was NOT from me but from the person who hacked my account.

From this time forward, I will only be using my new gmail address.

If you would like to be added to my new contact list, please leave a comment at the end of this post as it will now be redirected to my new gmail account. Looks like I have to start all over again.  *sigh*

I am NOT an evil person but I can assure you that if I ever find out who did this, I'd like to personally wring their neck...but not before I tell them to

GET A REAL LIFE!!!

  2. Don't these people have nothing useful to do? It's really annoying when something like this happens to us. I just hope you'll be out of trouble with your new account.

  11. I had exactly the same yesterday - I sent an email to my daughter, they wouldn't let it go because it had "sensitive content" - I was asking her to have lunch with me! For goodness sake ...! Eventually I was able to send the email and then my account was blocked. I had to fill in a form as you did, at first they said 5-7 days to sort, then my son was able to help me and eventually I was able to access. So annoying - 24 hours of worry and inconvenience. What was going on yesterday.....fingers crossed it stays ok for us!

  12. How irritating--and pointless! I'm sorry the twerps have nothing better to do -- too bad they don't put their "resourcefulness" to work at soliving the world's problems instead of making more!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Oh, so frustrating and then the hassle of trying to get it straightened out. Give Ollie a good cuddle - that is sure to make you smile :) Hope

  14. I just don't understand how anyone can choose to do these mean things. Obviously they have some 'brains' so why not use them to help people and do good instead of creating chaos and problems. So sad.

  20. Sorry to hear about this. It is so frustating and then you have to worry about what kind of information they are looking for. Hope everything works out and all your perosnal info is safe. I had an Ebay account a few years ago that I hadn't used in several months. Someone hacked into it and was selling stuff through my account, collecting the money and not sending people their orders. Ebay shut it down right away when I found out and allerted them, Ebay even went back and restored my good comments from people. Just made me mad it happened so I shut down my Ebay account and my Paypal account just to make sure it would not be used again. So frustrating!

  40. Add me to your contact list. Hope I can still keep you on my Google Reader. I love your blog.

  41. What a pain, it definitely sounds like hacking. These days you have to be on your guard all the time.

    ReplyDelete
  42. It really is a pain...it happened to me a little over a year ago....I have found out that you have to be very careful when giving out info....and they have found out that most of the time it is someone from another country....mine was from the UK....and then the one that tried to hack my FB was from Russia...Thanks for hanging in there for all of us...

    ReplyDelete
  43. Oh that makes me soooo mad on your behalf! There you are, minding your own business...sigh...

I had one of those "sign in again" thingies with PayPal. I didn't do it so that's probably a really good thing!

Call me if you find them...I have some left over stuff from my divorce I wouldn't mind taking out on somebody who deserves it!

    Hang in there! Bev

    ReplyDelete
  46. I don't understand why people do this sort of thing. If they're bored they could come to my house and I'd keep them busy and out of trouble! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  47. I don't understand the appeal of hacking email accounts. Does anyone ever buy anything based on the spam they get from hacked accounts? I don't think so! So sorry to hear you've had all these problems!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Hackers stink. hope all will be straightened out son. Please add me to you new list.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Oh..so sorry. They are just losers who have nothing better to do with their lives. I will email you at your new address so you can add me into your list.

  50. That happened to me recently. I agree it is frustrating. Please keep me on your contact list.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I'm sorry Kaaren! I've been hacked before and it is no fun at all! I have a gmail account, and I have had no problems with it.

    ReplyDelete
  52. If you used your credit card(s) for online purchases, better check to insure they are not being used/run up.
And if your email password is the same as other accounts where you make a purchase, better take action.
This is why those horrible people hack accounts, for money.
This is what happened to me. I was able to stop them before they ran amuck with my credit card.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I'm so sorry this happened. One of my friends had her email account hacked into. They stole all of her contacts and opened another account through Hotmail, sent out scam letters asking for money, and even had it set it to reply back if you replied to the email. It was crazy! She was using Comcast, and finally got them to retrieve her contacts for her.
I just don't understand why some try to make life miserable for others. :(

    ReplyDelete
  54. I agree with you, they need to get a life. It is not fun to have to redo everything. Take care of yourself, and sweet Ollie!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Gosh, I'd be mad enough to spit nails!! So sorry you are the victim of this hacker!!

    ReplyDelete
  56. What joy can there be in hacking into someone else's account? I don't understand why this would be appealing to anyone! So sorry for your aggravation... it's happened to me as well and it just irks me. Well, we persevere!! Be especially blessed, Kathy

  75. I know how you feel, Kaaren! People are so evil anymore. They DO need to get a real life. I kept getting messages from msn (also live) that I had to give them everything (info-wise) but my first born. It even messed up my blogs - giving warnings to those who tried to view them. I responded harshly, demanding why they needed all this if they were legit. Haven't had any problems since! Please add me to your contact list: burkhart1776@msn.com. Hope all goes well!

  77. How awful. I can't believe people get their jollies from things like this. One time I started getting risque links and messages from someone I knew would never, ever send them so I called them up and sure enough, they'd been hacked. Glad you have a new account though but sorry that this happened to you.

  78. Please keep me on your list too!

  79. I do not understand why people do these things. If they would put that same effort into a real job, imagine what they could do! I've had people steal my credit card number twice - why can't they all just get a life?!

  80. HUgs. Sorry you have had such awful hackers.

  81. Hi Karen.
I use gmail and haven't had any problems. It is too bad that people don't use their computer talents to do some GOOD instead of trying to mess people up. I just hate losers!

  90. Kaaren have you heard the latest..
There are scappers out there. They take your posts that you have worked so hard on and then download them to their blogs and take then as their own. Go to Thrifty Decor Chick and she talks all about it. Can't these people get a life..... Keep me in the loop and send me your new e-mail.

  91. A real pain, for sure. Just got emails from a friend across the Pacific stating she was in yet another country and had been robbed... send $$$... all that. Knew it was phony. And then there are those who steal content (written word for word) and pictures and publish as their own. Sheeesh!
    And Ollie is adorable!

    ReplyDelete
  92. This is all such a pain isn't it? I hope things go smoothly from now, but there are people out there who make life difficult for the rest of us - my blog completely disappeared as did my access to Google, so I had to verify my way back, now my blog is back and my access to Google restored after 'some unusual activity' whatever that means, some nuisance out there trying to mess with my world, I'll be following you in the neck wringing LOL!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  93. People have no brains! All they are doing is causing you work and stress.
Thank you for taking care of it so promptly.
I check in most days to see if there is a new post, so don't rely on email notifications. Works for me.

  94. I dearly love reading all your posts and have for some time now. I will admit that in the beginning I only got your FFF, but began to get curious about this talented lady and her creations and got hooked on your blog. You have been in my prayers thru your health issues and waited with you for the arrival of little Ollie. You do what is best for Kaaren - the rest will sort itself out. So sorry for all your computer issues.
Will continue following your blog - with or without FFF!
    Thanks -
