Snowed In!

It took a while to arrive but it’s here…and with a vengeance!

DSCN1290

The first snow storm of the season!

DSCN1293

It started snowing at about 6 a.m. and I took the above photos at 3 p.m. looking out into our backyard.  It almost looks like fog but that’s actually the snow gusting around in the high winds.

This is a view from out our front door.  When I opened the door to take the photo, the snow was piled about a foot and a half up the door from the drifting.  My pine boughs sure look Christmas-y now.

We are supposed to receive between 10” to 12” of snow before it’s all over, supposedly around 9 p.m.

School bus transportation was cancelled and the streets are deserted.  Perhaps we’ll have a white Christmas after all.

But on the the brighter side, I managed to cut out and piece six blocks of a new quilt that I’m working on…and only six more to go!

Happy stitching!

It is pretty, no question. We did get some snow but then the rain came and washed it away. Now the wind has picked up -- and I think there's more snow coming. Glad we're home and don't have to go anywhere tonight!

I agree with Cathi - the snow is pretty. We got a little, but then it rained, and now the winds are howling about 50 mph and more snow is coming (although I don't think a lot). A good night to stay in and stitch.

Quite windy here--no snow though. Temps are dropping by the hour. I can wait until Christmas for the snow. Glad you have plenty of fabric to keep you busy. :o)

It sounds like perfect quilting weather to me!
We have high winds today with very cold weather due in. The winds created problems with power so I had to shut down Gam and call it a day!

That looks so beautiful and what a great excuse to get out the quilting. I do enjoy snow pictures as here in Aust where I live it never snows and doesn't even get too cold in winter.

Here in the LP of Michigan it's been snowing for days and if I have to lift another shovelful of snow...well,...I just don't know.. :D
I hope you stayed warm and dry and throughly enjoyed your sewing!! :)

Isn't it great to be snuggling safely inside with a stitching project while all that snowy commotion is going on outside? It is very pretty though. We are buried in white too.

I was snowed in today too! Since I don't have any little munchins at home, I love it when school closes and I get paid to stay home and quilt. I got two Christmas presents finished today and got started on my December Schnibble.

Kaaren, once again absolutely beautiful. It all looks so delicate and reminds me of lovely white cotton batting.

Oh Kaaren! You lucky gal. Our first snow storm produced maaaaaaybe 2" of snow and it's gone now. What better time, though, to get in some sewing. Can't wait to see your blocks! I sure hoping it'll be a White Christmas in my neck of the woods!

Kaaren it looks so beautiful. It is so hot here and uncomfortable that I would take your snow on without hesitation. Please send some this way... it looks like perfect quilting and crafting weather. My dream is to have a white Christmas one day....:)

How beautiful. At the moment we only have rain in The Netherlands.

It does look very picturesque but cold at your house. I hope it means sewing weather.
