A Little Change
You all know that I L-O-V-E the Cheddar Broken Dishes quilt but as much as I've tried, I find that I'm just not 'loving' the white sashing. In my mind's eye, the two just contradict one another.
So what I've decided to do is make my sashing out of a medium-to-dark blue Civil War or reproduction print. I know I'll be more happy with it that way.
Happy stitching!
I think your idea sounds great, can you give us a sneak peak when you get a few blocks done?
ReplyDeleteSounds like a stunning combination!
ReplyDeleteIndigo would be perfect! I lover Cheddar with indigo.
ReplyDeleteI love the cheddar and it would be great with the blues.
ReplyDeleteOh, I can't wait to see your quilt!
ReplyDeleteOh I made a miniature quilt with a bright chadder and bight dark blue. It was cool.
ReplyDeleteVai ficar lindo, deixa a gente ver só um pouquinho.
ReplyDeleteIt will be gorgeous, Kaaren. I'm glad to have you back posting even if its short! Take care.
ReplyDeleteI agree about the white and I think your choice of a blue would be perfect.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Polly. Can't wait to see an audition. I am so far behind in everything I need to finish that I am trying not to take on anything new but this quilt pattern just keeps tugging at me. Wonder which will win, finish or begin? Happy Days.
ReplyDeleteLook forward to seeing how the blue compliments the cheddar!! I bet it will be stunning!!
ReplyDeleteI agree! I didn't like the white at all, looks odd to me. Blue would be beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSounds great to me.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see! That quilt also caught my eye.....of course, I have one or two projects I absolutely need to finish first. Quilting vicariously through you :)

too funny, Kaaren, I thought the same thing about the white, and have gone thru my stash to find the right shade of darker blue. Great minds think alike :) Excited to get started.

And it will be fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI agree! The white is way too much contrast... looking forward to seeing progress on yours.... in fact, you may have just put the buzz in my ear to try one too... perhaps with chocolate brown sashing? Hmmmmmm...
ReplyDeleteFunny...today at the NYS Fair I saw one done in 1904 with no sashing. It was wonderful. I'll try to email a picture of it I took with my phone. Margie/NY margie0519@msn.com
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. Paula in KY
