Woo hoo!

It's been a busy two weeks with doctor appointments, scans, physio and of course, sewing and stitching!

I met with my oncologist yesterday and the G-R-E-A-T news is that my latest CT scan showed NO CHANGE which means that everything is status quo with the cancer and my next scan will be a year from now instead of every six months.

Woo hoo!

I also met with the orthopaedic surgeon who repaired my fractured hip and the good news is that it's 100% healed.  The not-so-good news is that I might have to walk with the aid of a cane for the unforeseeable future and if those are the cards that I've been dealt, then that's just fine and I can live with it.  I'll just have to be careful and stay indoors when the weather turns nasty.  No big deal because that means more sewing and stitching time!

Woo hoo!

Speaking of stitching, we had our guild Christmas party last week and before going out to dinner, we met at the library in the afternoon where we hold our meetings and the committee had some super events planned.

We each made a little coneflower pincushion and a scissor keep.  Aren't they the cutest little things you ever did see?

The pattern and instructions can be found in the Summer 2013 issue of Primitive Quilts & Projects magazine...one of my favorites!

Woo hoo!

Of course we had a gift exchange and here's what I received...

Love them!

Woo hoo!

I've been diligently working on my new quilt design and the first step...the stitchery blocks...are now complete.  I'll probably start on the pieced blocks sometime later this week or weekend.

Woo hoo!

I finally dusted off this wool crazy pincushion top that I started many moons ago which I used as a sample for the tutorial I wrote about HERE.

It's still far from finished but I'm enjoying watching it come to life as I add the embellishing stitches.  Love this part and I L-O-V-E working with wool!

Woo hoo!

And it's been a long time coming but I've got a great start on the final French braid border for Darlene's mystery quilt.  She released this last step just before my hip fractured so it's been on the back burner until recently.

Love the scrappiness!

Woo hoo!

And last but by no means least, December's First Friday Freebie is done and is ready to be released this Friday, the 6th of December.  Make sure to come back then because Darlene's shop, A Needle Pulling Thread, will be offering an all inclusive kit to purchase for this project at a VERY special price.

Woo hoo!

Happy stitching!

Lots of reasons to WooHoo, Kaaren! The news about the cancer is wonderful. So glad you got that word.
What cute little things you made at the guild party.
I love your braids--what scrappy goodness! Have you done much with braid quilts before? If so, do you struggle with the bias edges?
Just for the fun of it--another WooHoo for you!!!

Woo Hoo All over for a Great Report at the DR! Canes will keep you safer. Gotta get out my Primitive Magazine to see how-to on those scissor keeps. I love being grounded by snow, that does mean MORE quilting for me.

Glad to hear of such good reports from your doctors! I'm sure it's such a big relief.

It looks like you're 100% back into the sewing groove! Wonderful projects you have featured today.

Delightful news, Kaaren. I am a cancer survivor (of many years, now) and I still remember like it was yesterday each time I reached a milestone! Good for you! Sounds as though you are keeping busy and having lots of quilty fun.

Oh, great news! I remember the relief when my exams went from every 6 months to every year. After my 6 years had passed, I told my oncologist that he was a great doctor, a very nice man, but I never wanted to see him again. He said he gets that a lot. :)

Wonderful news, Kaaren! I'm so happy you are doing so well! Maybe you could get the DH to carve you a cane from the woods in your area, and then you could decorate it!

Prayers answered with a lot to Whoo Hoo about! Lots of good news and goodies! Not too bad if, when there is bad weather, you have to say inside and sew and that's ok if you use a "hiking pole"...sounds better than a cane. LOL Love all the eye candy in this post! ((hugs))Ann in PA

Lots of great things in this post but the very best is your health news. I know you'll be careful with winter walking and maybe, just maybe, this will be a good winter without too much of that white stuff. I wouldn't want you to give up on those stitching days in town.

Definitely a Woo Hoo kinda day! Congratulations on the great news on the cancer cells. Walking with a cane is not so bad! My dad did, and it's really kinda distinguished, isn't it? There are some very pretty canes, too.

So happy to hear you good news! I recently had a lumbar fusion surgery on my back and had a small fracture in my hip after I got home. No idea what caused the fracture but it is at the end of one of the screws. Well as you know it was quite painful and it has complicated my recovery. I am improving slowly but still have lingering pain in my hip and am wondering if you have any pain now that your fracture has healed. The doctor says the back will take a year to feel normal but he is not sure about the fracture as it is not a complication he has come across before. Sorry you are walking with a cane but hopefully you have no pain!

I am so glad you are doing well. I have kept you in my prayers. Right around the same time health issues came up for you, they did for me too, but they are minor compared to what you have been through - (rotten knees and frozen shoulders). God bless.
