We planted about 85% of them the first summer after we moved here so this will be their third full growing season. Every one of them has matured beautifully and they're a delight to behold.

In addition to the flowering gardens, one of the best things about this time of year and until mid October is that our local Farmers' and Traders' Market is in full swing.
Every Saturday morning Mr. Painted Quilt, Ollie and I head to town bright and early while it's still cool and everything is as fresh as can be. I forgot to bring my camera yesterday but we managed to come home with lots of goodies including freshly picked strawberries from a local farm, a crusty olive bread, a pound of the best scallops in the world caught locally in the Bay of Fundy and some green and yellow beans.
Here's all that's left of the strawberry rhubarb pie that I baked yesterday afternoon.
Yup, it was that good!
Do you think that there will be any left by the time dinner time rolls around?

It's always dangerous to have a pie in the house. A piece for breakfast, a piece after lunch, and suddenly there is nothing left for dinner!! Your garden looks lovely. A real color inspiration for your quilting. Thanks for the show. Kathie L in Allentown

I love a good Sunday morning stroll among the flowers, and yours are so beautiful. And I doubt if a rhubarb strawberry pie would last as long as yours did in our house. I LOVE pie, any kind. It's wonderful living by the seashore, we have great seafood here on the west coast as well. Spot prawns at the moment.
Kaaren your flower beds are beautiful and I am surprised that everyone doesn't know that the tall pink flower is a lupin. I don't know about in nova Scotia but here in New Brunswick, lupins grow wild. They are at their best right now and in all the colour variants, red, pink, yellow, cream, blue and violets, they are truly beautiful. I wish they would grow in our garden, they seem to prefer the rocky ground. Truly an inspiration for fabric.

I enjoyed the stroll in your garden, and I can almost taste that pie. I am trying to reduce my intake of sweet food/fat for health reasons, and am having massive withdrawal symptoms. It may require a midnight feast, when I am not looking....do you think I could fool myself :-)

Such a lovely stroll! All your flowers are beautiful. The pie looks scrumptious. I made a strawberry/rhubarb pie with fresh strawberries and rhubarb from my garden. Had to take my mom for an appointment that took the whole day. Got home to find that hubby at the entire pie -- I didn't even get a taste! He sure was a happy guy, lol.

What a gorgeous garden you have Kaaren!!! All that planting really has reaped rewards, they are looking very settled and happy in their place!!!! I love going to Farmers' markets too, and rhubarb is one of my favourite pie fillings!!!!
