My goodness the time does fly when you're having fun!
You guys are too, too funny. Just today I received 5 emails asking how we were all doing because I haven't posted in a while. But as the title to my post says, I've been busy...honest!
So to Sydney in NY, Janet in Quebec, Doris in Ohio, Libby in Maine and Shirley in MA, everyone in the Painted Quilt household is fine and we're all doing well...and thanks for asking!
It's snowing again today. I think we're supposed to get around 4-6" by the time this evening rolls around.
Just when the snow from our previous dumping had all but disappeared, early this morning we woke up to to see more of the white stuff.
It was bitterly cold yesterday unlike the almost spring-like weather we experienced over the last four to five days.
So what does a gal do on a blustery snowy day? Why stay indoors and sew, of course!
For the past week and a half I've been busy working on another BOM for you all which I hope to have ready for release on the 1st of April. Other than saying it's going to be FREE and that it will run for six consecutive months, I'm not going to give you any other hints except that "Scrappy" is a part of it's title.
Well, maybe I'll show you a very little sneak peek...
I still have two of the side borders to attach and then the piecing of the top will be complete.
Now just the piecing will be complete. Then comes the fun part of embellishing by adding different textures and doo dads and I can't wait! I'll have until the end of February to complete the top because that's when my friend Alice who does my longarm quilting will be back from her Florida vacation. As soon as she returns, I'll be sending it off to be quilted.
Are you excited? I am!
I've been a little remiss in sharing with you this beautiful little quilt that my BBFF (best blogging friend forever ) sent to me for Christmas. This is the third little quilt that Mary from Quilt Hollow has gifted me with over the years and I have to say that I think this one is my favorite. The colors are perfect!
Isn't it just over the moon and back? Mary knows my tastes so well, perhaps because our tastes are so similar. Thanks again, my friend.
The boys were cuddling by the fire again this morning...
ZZZzzzzz |
Think we should tell her that we need a bigger bed? |
and Ollie was back here.
Even though they are best buddies, they do need their own space...just like us humans, huh? *wink*
I hope that you all are enjoying the weekend as we are!
What a dog and cad's life!
ReplyDeleteScrappy sounds fabulous! Good to hear from you, Kaaren. Ollie and Frankie are quite the pair.
ReplyDeleteExciting, a new scrappy BOM, can't wait. We don't have snow, but a frosty winter wonderland with freezing fog here in the Willamette Valley (Oregon).
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you've been busy being creative and it looks like the weather is inspiring you.
ReplyDeleteWe've had some freezing temperatures and today is foggy as it was yesterday. Winter can be so interesting in what it brings each day.
I look forward to your big reveal.
So cute to see how Ollie & Frankie get along. Our 2 Shelties have a large dog bed near the fireplace that accommodates both of them but they always trade off - like okay it's my turn now so you can move.
ReplyDeleteLove your quilt from Mary at Quilt Hollow. The colors are wonderfully warm - what a special gift that is!
Stay warm - we are heading well below zero for the next few days but it is January - and that seems to be when a lot of quilting gets done!!
Oh how I love a tease! I'll be looking forward to April.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, us humans need " our space". Just ask hubby. LOL
Well yes, you have been busy! Beautiful pictures of the freshly fallen snow... Ollie and Frankie look happily warm inside. Love the fabrics Mary used for your gifted quilt... my kind of colors, too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful gift from Mary! She is so talented.
ReplyDeleteThe snow looks beautiful! Aren't we glad we have quilting in our lives to enjoy on winter days?
ReplyDeleteOllie and Frankie best buddies just like us humans!
Your boys are so adorable! It's amazing how well they get along! Another BOM...great! Can't wait! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteCheery wave!
Bev
Hi, Kaaren! I always feel as if I've been for a visit to your beautifully cosy home, whenever I read your posts. I love that you always include your little boys in your catch-ups....gorgeous lads that they are! Your gifted quilt is absolutely lovely and definitely in the colours that I would choose....now, can't wait for your big reveal. Big hugs to you and yours....and, oh, almost forgot....we have deep and crisp and even SNOW in my part of England...woohoo!
ReplyDeleteOooh, a six month project!!! Can't wait to see more! That's a great little quilt, you should bring it to show us next guild meeting. The snow has turned to rain here now, but more to come at the first of the week I hear! It's been a great day for sewing!
ReplyDeleteOllie and Frankie are too precious!!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteThe BBFFquilt is a beauty!
ReplyDeleteI can tell I am going to love your scrappy BOM...I love it already just from that little sneak preview! And your gifted quilt is adorable! How wonderful to receive such treasures!
ReplyDeleteThanks for a great post....but please keep the snow!
Mary's gift is so lovely! What a sweet treasure.
ReplyDeleteWhat a teaser--looks like it will be fun. : )
Oh, the antics of those boys are always entertaining, Kaaren.
The little quilt that Mary made for you is just gorgeous, love the quilting design on it too!!! Those two little critters get along so well, they look to be very contented in each others company, what a lovely thing to see!! That snow looks very cold indeed, while we swelter in the heat of an Australian summer, and it has been particularly bad for so many in the southern parts of the continent. Luckily here it's just been hot - no fires, but to day there is something falling from the sky and it's so wonderful to hear it dropping on the roof, it's called RAIN, whoohooo!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLook forward to seeing your project revealed, glad to hear you are all well and been keeping busy Kaaren, always so nice to read your blog!!!!!
oh the snow looks pretty :) good reason to stay inside the warm house and quilt!
ReplyDeleteglad all is well...look forward to the reveal...
Kathie
Brrrrrr.....I must agree staying inside near a hot iron is more my speed on a chilly day. Cute babies!
ReplyDeleteSo cute to see the dog and cat bedding down together. In households with a dog and cat, they usually just tolerate each other but these two look like best friends.
ReplyDeleteGlad all is well with you! I've been watching for an update and was just about to email you.
ReplyDeleteOur furry family members sure know how to find the warm spots. Mine really love the woodstove, even when they get too hot, lol.
Sharing the bed is sooooo cute. Glad to hear you all are doing fine.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are all OK. The scrappy BOM sounds like fun. Stay warm.
ReplyDeleteYou've certainly been busy. I can't wait for your BOM, scrappy is my middle name specially now that I'm on a very strict fabric diet ( money shortage).
ReplyDeleteThe quilt you have received is gorgeous. My kind of colors too.
We don't have snow but yesterday we had heavy rain and very strong wind. Some trees nearby were pulled out of their roots and some fell on cars. Fortunately it's gone, just a little rain today.
I love to see Ollie and Frankie together, they look so cute.
Hugs,
Teresa

Hi Kaaren.
ReplyDeleteBoy I sure wish we would get some more snow here in Ontario. I love snow and we haven't had much this winter. The quilt looks wonderful and your critters look so happy.
Have a great Sunday.
Janet
I'm glad to hear that all is well and that you're busy being creative! Give Ollie and Frankie a cuddle for us.
ReplyDeleteNice to see that you all are fine!
ReplyDeleteWe have the same weather so it is nice to be sewing inside looking at our wonderful sunny cold day outside.
Hugs for you all
Karin på Ösäter
The scrappy BOM sounds great , always looking for ways to use them up ;-)We had snow overnight and it is gorgeous out there this morning.Love seeing Ollie and Frankie , they are such good friends.
ReplyDeletePictures of snow look pretty! But, I'm glad it's not here where I have to shovel it... ;-) The scrappy BOM looks to be another winner! I haven't started on the embroidered Christmas one yet though... all in good time, right? lol! Hugs to Frankie and Ollie!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure, but it looks as though there is a lot of sleeping going on there. Maybe it is winter hibernating!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the scrappy look so far and Mary's gift is just beautiful.
Enjoy the wintery scene outside.
Warm and snuggly and doing what you love - beautiful combination. Lucky you for the quilt from Mary - she is so unique and special Love seeing pictures of Ollie and Frankie, as always. Judy C is finally blogging again.

ReplyDeleteI think your pets are so sweet. They look like such great chums and keep each other warm.
ReplyDeleteThe snow makes the quilts all the much warmer, I think.
ReplyDeleteOhhhh - look at all that snow! It has passed us over this winter and I miss it, Kaaren! Wow - you are so wonderfully generous - a new BOM! I'll have my eyes peeled for it. The boys are so darned cute - but I do agree - we all need our own space now and again! Glad to hear all is well in the northlands!
ReplyDeleteCheers!
Ollie is losing his puppy look !! Who could resist a little nap next to a toasty warm stove??
ReplyDeleteHi Karen,
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear everything is OK and we don't have to send in the St. Bernard dogs to rescue you, Frankie and Olie and of course, Mr PQ, from being snowbound in the great north, lol. The little quilt you receieved from your BBFF is beautiful. Can't wait to see where you display it.
I'm looking forward to seeing your BOM in April too.
Stay warm,
Gail :)
