After typing the title to this post, it just dawned on me that this will be my 24th First Friday Freebie…two year’s worth! Who woulda thought?
“Sleigh bells ring, are you listening?
In the lane, snow is glistening.
A beautiful sight, we’re happy tonight…
Walking in a Winter Wonderland”.
Fittingly, this month’s FFF is entitled Winter Wonderland.
The photo above was taken from the deck at the front of our house at around 4:00 p.m. yesterday looking in a westerly direction across the road.
You can’t see it in this photo because the snow was falling quite heavily at the time but the ocean is just beyond.
“In the meadow we can build a snowman…
And pretend that he is Parson Brown”…
Worked in the traditional redwork style and hand quilted, this month’s FFF features a little girl building a snowman and is accompanied by her cat. What do you think, is the cat is there to keep her company or does he have something else on his mind…like dinner? *wink*
Here’s a closer look…
And the back…
And it’s Frankie approved! Remember the sneak peek of this when I showed you my new labels?

ReplyDeleteJust adorable - as usual! Your little pic of snow may be all we see down here in the sunny South. After this past week's little winter blast, it is now 10 degrees (F) above normal. Almost spring weather! I may have to hurry and stitch this snowman before it's too warm.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful little quilt!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kaaren! It's adorable. I actually like your snow picture, too. We've only had a couple of very light dustings this year. I'm ready for some real snow.
ReplyDeleteKaaren, thank you for a wonderful little quilt pattern. One of my goals for 2012 is to work more on hand stitching and red work. I have a whole file of patterns that this has been added to!

I love the quilt design and I hope to get started on it soon. I love your pictures of the snow. I love it when it snows and I can enjoy the view and stay cozy inside. Thank you for sharing your talent with your wonderful FFF designs.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot, Kaaren, for this so cute FFF !
ReplyDeleteThis little quilt reminds me of my daughter when she was younger. She had an indoor cat who would sit at the window and watch her every move when she played in the snow. Petunia, our faithful kitty, was always plotting ways to get outside and play with the kids, but whenever she got out the door she would panic and beg to get back inside.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the beautiful pattern and for bringing back happy memories. May the new year bring you good health and continued blessings.
Kaaren,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your lovely pattern of the little girl in the snow.
This will be my first attempt at Red work. What kind of fabric do you recommend for the background?
I hope my arthritic hands will cooperate.
