Okay, today’s the day to come clean and to admit that I have a problem. I’m addicted to S-C-I-S-S-O-R-S!
I ♥ scissors…every size, shape, color and purpose. Whenever I walk into a shop that sells scissors, I have to look at their selection because you just never know…there might be something different there just waiting for a new home.
Let me give you a little peek.
There are big ones, ulility ones and some still in their original packaging.
There are stork ones, embroidery ones, some with fobs and some without…but that’s another story for another time. And there’s even one with it’s own matching sheath!
These are my favorite pair which I purchased at the Vermont Quilt Festival this year. They are Dovo scissors with a gorgeous embossed pattern on the grips. And admittedly, these are the only pair for which I paid full price. And these little beauties I generally pick up at Joann’s whenever I have a discount coupon to give as gifts with one of my scissor fobs.
There are probably a few more that I’ve forgotten to include, but this is my main collection and I’m sure you get the idea.
Am I the only one with this problem, or are there more of you out there? Come out, come out…wherever you are!
Happy stitching…and cutting…and snipping!
Kaaren ♥
EDIT: Head on over to Ranette’s blog because guess what? She came out too!
OMG, my friend, I have the same serious addiction! I love, love, love scissors - all sizes! LOL
ReplyDeleteI've got a few scissors, but I don't think QUITE as many as you have ;-) My biggest problem has always been that my scissors would tend to walk away. I never used to have this problem before, but there are two legged munchkins that "borrow" my scissors and then no one seems to know what happened to them :-(
ReplyDeleteME TOO! I don't know what it is about scissors, but I LOVE them!
ReplyDeleteOthers may be a little "concerned" with the addiction -- but a quilter completely understands....
ReplyDeleteoh I love scissors too!
ReplyDeleteI hope to get a pair of those Dovo's so you really love them?
what size are yours???
I see that Bunny Tales sells them on line
I think they will be under the tree for me this year:)

Hi Kaaren...
ReplyDeleteI love your new dovos from Vermont. I think I have more scissors than you...I didn't show all of mine out of shame :o)
Ranette
I LOVE scissors too! Although I don't have nearly as many as you! LOL I brought home two new pairs one day and my kids asked me why I bought them. I said because they were cool! LOL
ReplyDeleteI have scissors but not as many as you. I don't see a pair of the little yellow handled Omnigrid scissors. Oh, are they sharp!
ReplyDeleteWow! you do have alot of scissors. I have right and left handed scissors. When cutting out a pattern, you get to that place where you either have to turn your pattern or hold your hand awkwardly to continue cutting. Well, I just switch hands so I can cut without turning. Wierd, I know.
ReplyDeleteYes, that is one serious scissors addiction! I have the fabric addiction, but so far, no scissors addiction. Love seeing what I need to look for if it hits me!
ReplyDeleteI guess I could do a Scissors Addition post. You just gave me an idea for a three or more post on Tuesday on my craft blog. I recently did a post on Vintage Thingies Thursday last week with my old old scissors. Also I just bought a pair of embroidery scissors from Joann's last weekend. The ones on the right in your last picture. Come and see if I did a post on Tuesday! I still have to take the picturs.
ReplyDeleteAll scissors are NOT created equal. Being left handed limits my ability to even find one great pair of scissors let alone collect them. I still have my first pair of real left handed fiskar scissors my mom bought me when I was in 7th grade. Pretty dull now but I can't seem to part with them.
ReplyDeleteI confess!!!! I am too!
ReplyDeleteNIce to see that others have this same "addiction"! I LOVE all my scissors yet I still look and buy more.
ReplyDeleteLove my ALL my Dovos the best!!
And I thought I was the only one... thank you for making me feel "normal"!
Hugs,
Elaine in SLO, Ca
Ahh,,,.I just started my collection.. thanks to you.. adding to it.. and it is so fun.. and believe me...we need this many... because we ( ok me) cant find them when I need them... lol..
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful scissors! Right now I'm thinking of collecting my favorite applique' pins since I can't seem to find them anywhere...think I'll buy two boxes to replace the one I lost!
ReplyDeleteyou and Rannette - what are with gonna do with the two of you?!?
ReplyDeleteI'm not near as bad as most...I think I maybe own a total of 8 or so...and they aren't spectacular.
ReplyDeleteWell Kaaren...i too did collected quit a few scissors over the years..especially because i make cards too..so you can,t use the same for paper and fabric..and bought just a few for fun because they look good but don,t cut anything....lol...cant show you anymore because my problem is the same as Happy Cottage Quilter has said here ..everybody uses them but no-one is putting or giving them back...or knows were they are.... yeah right....lol....you have gort a lovely collection there...go over t Ranette now...have a nice Sunday...greetings Francien.
ReplyDeleteI think I should join your club! I just did a partial clean up in my sewing room and found 12 pairs of scissors. Wonder why I can never find a pair when I need them?
ReplyDeleteI don't have a collection but I am fascinated with the neat looking scissors at the specialty shops and the olds ones I see online. Thye are so neat!!
ReplyDeleteI thought of yo yesterday when I was here...http://www.keepsakequilting.com/ What a place!!
I am loving this cool air!! I am telling everyone I even baked pork chops tonight and made stuffing from scratch. I need a fall meal fix! LOL
Have a great weekend!
Giggle!!!
ReplyDeleteI haven't got many scissors, Kaaren... but must admit that I am attracted to fancy ones! I have a bit of a 'thing' about trims at the moment!
Oh... and talking of collections... I do have more than 1,000 erasers~!!! I started collecting when I was a young girl when it was big in the Eighties. I still have them although do refrain from topping up the collection now. I need the room for fabrics! lol...
Thanks for sharing, you little addict, you!!! :-)
Love and hugs
Vikki xoxo
hi kaaren,
ReplyDeletewhile i do love scissors, i can't say i have an addiction to them. but aren't there some really gorgeous ones on the market! and i just love scissor fobs of all kinds.
yep, you are such a little addict, what with your pincushions, fabric & such. lucky you've never picked up cocaine or ecstasy!! we could have a problem on our hands! LOLOLOL

julie xoxoxo
Thanks for sharing your scissors with us! I am going to have to check out those Dovos. I am always looking for a good pair of scissors! But I am definately not an addict like you!
ReplyDeleteYOu have been so busy and I absolutely love the redwork pattern you created! Great job, as usual!
I must confess that I have not only a collection, but I have mine all over the apartment--I have 3 or 4 in the kitchen, one here at the desk, two to four at all times by my rocking chair where I do hand work and we won;t count how many I have in my sewing room--I know of at least two pairs that are still in their packages--out of all of these my very favorite pair is for my applique and embroidery and is from Elan (united notions)--but I do believe I will take a blog reading break and go check out the Dovo's--take care--hugs, just, Di
ReplyDeleteYou already know about my addiction since I came out about it earlier. Now I'm eyeing up those Dovo's. I have a smaller pair but not as pretty as yours.
ReplyDeleteOnly a quilter knows those words, Dovo, Ghinger, Kai etc means.
You are hilarious!!
ReplyDeleteNope I'm not addicted and I don't collect scissors, but I might have a pair or two :p lol
I love buttons!!!!!
...and ric rac and embellishments
..and fabric
*giggle*
Me too!! I love scissors. Have funny itsy-bitsy ones for travelling stitching, larger ones, pretty ones, utilitarian ones -- whatever. I seem to love them all!
ReplyDeleteI love those scissors with the sheath on them.
ReplyDeleteI have four pair of scissors and they are all my favorites.
yeh I am little bit like you, scissors galore, and all in my family know that they just DO NOT TOUCH any of my scissors at all!!! Not if they know what is good for them anyway...

ReplyDeleteI know this obsession well...lol. I have been addicted to scissors for years. I just bought my newest pair this past weekend in fact. I needed more filling and when I stood back up from leaning over to grab a bag...there they were ON SALE! Jos said I did not need a new pair. HA! What does need have to do with it??? I keep mine in a flower frog in my antique sewing accessories.
ReplyDeleteHugs ~
Heidi
I posted my scissors collection for Three or More Tuesday on my craft and sewing blog! If you get a chance, come on by!

I'm loving these scissors coming out!!! What is it about scissors, they are just so wantable, needable, musthaveable!!! xo
ReplyDeleteI keep saying to myself, when I see new scissors, do I really need them. Well in the end, I always do. I even went out and bought a 4 hook hanger to hang some of them on my supply room/sewing room wall! :)
