It was bright, sunny and mild today so we tried to take advantage of the beautiful weather. We took the fur babies for a long walk this morning along a nature trail close to our house. The trail winds for a great distance through the woods and the snow is relatively well packed because of snowshoers and X-country skiiers. The four of us had a good workout and were plenty tired by the time we arrived home around lunchtime.
Meet Mac, our 10 year old Westie (West Highland White Terrier) and Lola, our 6 year old Golden Retriever. We've only had Lola ( her name when she came to us) for two months. Our vet contacted us at the end of November to ask us if we'd be willing to adopt Lola through the Golden Rescue. Lola's original owners didn't have the time to spend with her and she was left alone for extremely long periods of time. Eventually they split up and neither wanted the dog. She is the most affectionate dog ever but absolutely hates being left alone. That isn't a problem for us as we always take Mac with us no matter where we go. Now we take two instead of just one. Mac's nose was out of joint for a couple of weeks but they've since sorted out their differences and get along fine.
After lunch, we did some grocery shopping and other errands which didn't leave me much time to work on my Tisket-A-Tasket block, but I got a little bit done. I can never do anything according to the directions without changing something, whether it be a recipe or quilt pattern, so here's a peek at what I've done and where I'm at...
I've changed the top vine by adding some berries in place of the buttons, as well as the configuration of the leaves. It's not quite finished as I have to add more leaves, a few more berries and maybe some tendrils and, having said that, I'm going to try to do the second one as the designer intended for it to be done...(wink).

ps this looks like a post just for Karens so far.
Very cute. I like your berries. It's okay to make it your own. You have some cute dogs. We thought about getting a westie but got Schnauzers instead. My next dog will be a resucue dog.
Nice to be able to get out for a walk. I am sure its pretty out with all your snow. I love your personal touches to your basket block.
I love your quilt! Paula from Idaho
Kaaren, I think it's wonderful you were able to give Lola a loving new home. She looks like such a sweet natured dog. Is she?
My DD has a 2 year old Chocolate Lab which I dogsit 3 or 4 days a week.
Great job on your block.
