Thank you all for confirming what I had initially planned with respect to adding another border to my quilt.
My original plan was to add a 5" red border, wide enough to scallop the edge however, when I saw it after I had added the sashing and cornerstones, I was undecided. That's when I asked for your help.
So instead of a 5" outside border, I added a 1" turquoise border first and then finished with the 4" red border. I'll decide whether I will scallop it once it comes back from the quilter.
I'm really happy with the way it turned out...even though it is virtually unrecognizable when compared with the original design.
You're never going to guess what I'm going to be working on next...not in a million years!
Stay tuned and I'll let you know really soon.
Happy stitching!

Very nice finish. I bet it felt really good to have this one together. I love the turq narrow border, really pops the colors.
It looks wonderful Kaaren! I like your brighter version.
It looks terrific! Love that turquoise...the whole quilt is so precious. Can't wait to see this one quilted. You have done an amazing job and finished it so quickly! You have me wondering about your next project!
I love your amazing quilt!!! Pretty and isn't fun to design around an idea? Fun, fun!!
It looks great with those borders, Kaaren.
Great idea doing the 1in border first!
It is amazing what borders can do to
a quilt, well done :-)

Me encanta con esos colores tan vivos, un gran beso desde Tenerife.
Wow, that quilt is fantastic ... excellent choices on the borders. And I *much* prefer your version. ;-)
Wouahhhhhhh, super beau. Toutes mes Félicitations
That extra strip of turquoise is perfect! Today I'm also admiring the butterfly and bird appliques scattered over the piecing -- it's really pretty. There's so much to see! Great finish. :D
In my book turquoise is a neutral and also one of my favourite colours. Congratulations on your finish. I'm sure it will be lovely however you decide to finish it. Enjoy it for many years to come!
Kaaren, your quilt is amazing . . . they all are. Do you ever get tired of hearing that? Kidding all aside, you have a wonderful talent and you inspire me to try new things and push myself to learn new techniques. I am a beginner to quilting, but ever since the quilting bug bit me about a year and a half ago . . . I have been hooked on quilting. I love that I can send my creative hours making a gift that can wrap a huge hug around my granddaughters even when they live hundreds of miles away :)
I am your newest follower.

What a new look you have given this quilt. I love the way the birds and some butterflies come out into the side parts of the blocks. Congratulations on completing such a wonderful quilt top. Happy Stitching.
I love your version better than the pattern cover. I had seen this before and never considered doing it just because with the light colors it just all blended together and did not appeal to me but now seeing how you did it with darker fabrics, I may have to put this on my list! Amazing.
Absolutely love it! Scallop or no scallop it is a beauty!
So charming !!
Es precioso!!!!! bss
