The eleventh hour is fast approaching…gulp!
We just heard from the movers to confirm that they will be here on Monday morning between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m. It’s down to crunch time now and in my opinion, the most difficult in terms of packing. All the last minute stuff needs to be placed in boxes and it’s those last boxes that will contain odds and sods of everything that we’ve been using up until the last moment.
I’ve never NOT made my bed and for the last couple of weeks, the “WHY BOTHER” mode has kicked in.
I promise that this will be the very LAST time that you will ever see an unmade bed in our house! And where does the dust come from???
The living room is virtually impassable.
Heck, you can’t even tell that it’s our living room.
Remember this?
Well, here’s what it looks like now.
Pretty sad, huh?
Ever since the “SOLD” sign went up on the front lawn, we’ve both been detaching ourselves from the house. With all the painting and unpacking we have to do in Nova Scotia once we get there, I think our Christmas will be non-existent this year in terms of decorating. There is no way we can possibly get everything done in three weeks and that’s okay because we want to do things right the first time.
We had to move some boxes out of the kitchen because we just couldn’t get around. At least now we can get to the sink.
Tomorrow is the auction where we’ve placed all of the things that we haven’t either given away or sold that won’t be coming with us. That leaves Sunday to take care of the VERY last minute stuff. Tuesday, we’ll be on our way to our new home.
Wish us luck and please say a little prayer.
I’d rather be stitching!
Kaaren ♥

The first half is almost over!
Here's a big (HUG)
Getting closer to your new home, I bet you can't wait to get the moving all over with. It will be nice to be able to spend Christmas in your new home.
Debbie
I have been watching all of your preparations and after moving once like you are doing, brought back so many memories. I am looking forward to your new house and how pretty it will look. I will be saying prayers for you and I wanted to say thank you for all of the wonderful designs that you give away for free. Being a very new stitcher you have given me such confidence. So thank you and I will be praying for your move.
Go out for Christmas dinner sweetie, don't give yourself the extra pressure of trying to meet a deadline. Then, why not a 13 month headstart for next year - your sure to be ready.
Pace your self my friend.
hugs
Miche'le
Looks like you have things well in hand, even if you do not think so. You will be in my thoughts and prayers while you are moving and getting settled in. Have a safe trip to your new home.
Oh dear, a cringe moment - that should have been 'you're', not your - very bad for a retired English teacher.
hugs
I feel your pain! Try not to think about having to put all that away! Hey, I have a little Santa with the Christmas treet and sleigh like you have in your "before" picture, he's out all the time, my favorite Santa from my collection! Anyway, good luck on your move!
Good luck! I'll be thinking of you!!
Prayers going up for you Kaaren. I'll be doing the same thing in the Spring. I always ejoy the unpacking part though...all the decorating of the new house.
You look very organised. I empathise with you as I recently moved countries so know that last minute panic feeling.
Pace yourself and enjoy the transition. I'm sure it will all go well.
As for Christmas-don't stress. Just being in your new home will be blessing enough.
I'll bet some of your new neighbours will "have you over, that is what Nova Scotians do!
I have done the moving thing a few times and don't envy you the work. It will all come together even if you don't get it done before Christmas. You may even need to buy some new things to fill up the house you are moving to.
All the best in your move Kaaren , it is a huge job but hopefully you will be happy you made this move . I hope the weather cooperates as well ,no storms to deal with .I will say a few prayers for you .
After Monday it all will be better. Just wait and see.
Just catching up and see you're moving. Looks like you're almost there! Don't stop now, keep going! You'll be so happy when it's all over. Hugs.xo
Looks like you are well organized. All the last minute details will come together. You have planned well. Just keep looking to next week. You'll be in Nova Scotia then and hopefully very excited even though there will be a lot a work for awhile. Hope you are able to sleep at night, that will help.I'll be thinking of you as the days go by and hoping for good weather. Take care and have a safe trip.
Dianne
I'll be thinking of you !
You're almost at the end of this chapter and the beginning of the next! Just think how exciting it will be to start putting your new home together just the way you want it!
I'll be thinking of you - and hope that you have good weather for the move.
Maybe you can find a nice hotel near your new home for Christmas dinner -- and take that pressure off yourself altogether!
Just hold on! You seems very well organized, but moving is stress too. Keep your head cool and it is tuesday before you know!
Take a deep breath, drop your shoulders, and go with it! You're doing great and soon you'll be in your new home!! ~karen
Saying prayers and wishing you two the best of luck!
Susannah
I would bet that you will take time to do some sort of Christmas Decorating just to sit back in and enjoy, even if for only a little while. There's something calming about having your home decorated at this time of year and I am sure your new home will be no exception one way or another.
Best Wishes to you and your DH and may your take all of your love for Ontario down east and go safely on your way. Maybe wear your pink boots to give you happy feet, you know,,,happy feet, happy heart..
As always
Be always in stitches.
Best of luck. Hope you have good weather for the move.
That last minute stuff drives me crazy - who knew we use so much stuff on a daily basis, lol? You look very organized amidst the chaos. And yes, I'm praying for you!!!
Good luck and definitely a prayer for safe travel and everything getting to you in one piece. You will have many more Christmases to decorate...just enjoy the journey now!
Best of luck to you Kaaren - it's almost over now. and a few days after the stuff arrives and you do some arranging, you won't believe you felt disorganized!! A very safe journey and I hope the weather holds for you. Welcome home!!!
Janet in Hall's Harbour
Good luck with your big move.
Have fun settling into your new house and making it a home. Will look forward to some lovely pics once you are settled.
Moving is so good, it gives you a chance to really get down to what you love and what is important to keep. I think if we moved every 2 years we wouldn't have anything! You are on the downhill of the move in just a few days, and unpacking is better than packing!
So excited for you! Good luck and I'll be thinking about ya.
It's not long now - last minute stuff is horrible (and unavoidable) but you are heading to a new wonderful home and life. The very best of luck and safe journey x
Hugs

Oh Good Luck Kaaren. You are on a new adventure!!
Kaaren,
I can't imagine the emotions you are going through in this last bit of crunch time. Take a deep breath and step outside if it gets too much.
Have a safe journey and along the way stop in at a craft shop and get yourself a funky little desk top Christmas tree with lights to put in your home to celebrate the season. If not, think of the great present you have in your new home in a new province.
Enjoy your last night in your old home and celebrate the holidays in your new one!
You poor thing! That's a lot of chaos going on, but in the long run it will be a distant memory. Keep your chin up. It will be over soon. I'll say a few prayers for you that the next few days go smoothly. Good luck!
not long to go now. it will all be a distant memory soon!
Oh how I remember the month of getting ready for our move from Rhode Island to Arizona...the packing and then the 6 day drive....then unpacking....take a deep breath and hopefull it will all go smoothly.....keep us posted.
The tough part is almost over. And you will soon be moved into your new home. I will be thinking of you this weekend. Wishing you a very safe trip.
Lots of work but its getting more and more exciting as you get closer to being in your awesome new home. That has to be one of the best Christmas's ever, decorations or not.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh kids..............you have lots of prayers going out for you. You will do just fine.
I have a great tip (moving expect that I are......). Make sure your last box out (first one in) is a box that contains fresh clean sheets, a freshly washed mattress cover, you bed blankets, your 2 pillows, a set of towels and wash cloths, a full place setting for each of you, including coffee cups, the coffee pot (some coffee too), bathing soap and dish soap. And, if you lived at my house, there would be a nice bottle of red wine and the opener.
Immediately, the first night, you can go to bed, your bed will be made fresh, you can shower and wake up to a nice breakfast (even if it is McDonald's).
We've made several moves across the U.S. and this is our standby list! Works like a charm. You sleep well the first night and you wake refreshed and excited! We are all so excited for you!!!!
God Bless the 3 of you!!!! Nite nite.
Many good thoughts for a happy move!!
Oh oh oh my love Kaaren, I know how you feel. I thoughts are with you and admire you. I am glad for you that you start soon. Also, you will have a Christmas, believe me. Thoughts always with you, I pray for you, I wish you a great weekend. Your Christine
Moving is one of the hardest jobs out there. I hope everything goes smoothly even though you have more to do at the other end. I can't wait to see you settled in.
Congratulations on beginning a new chapter in your life! My family used to have members living in Nova Scotia and it is a place I have always wanted to visit. Best wishes!
Good luck with the move :) Best wishes, Jenny
God bless you in your move and in the auction, Kaaren!
Hugs
Jenny
Moving to another house is always a lot of work.
But also nice to think about how you want decorate your new house to make it your home!
Good luck and save journey,
Marijke
When I look at the boxes I can see you have really done a big job already! Good luck with the rest of it! For Christmas you can make a little spot in your new home with some few Christmas decorations just to get the cozy Christmas feeling. If you can find the boxes with Christmas decorations, of course :D
{{hug}}
Thanks for all your photos and stories :)
You & yours are already in my prayers Kaaren. And I'll continue until you've successly unpacked in NS.
Jackie in North Carolina (NC)
You will be in my thoughts and prayers. You are near the "top" of this mountain. From Thuesday you will start your decent. Althoug everything is chaos, and you feel out of place, relax and enjoy the feeling of the start of your new adventure. And remember to take time for tea!!!
Best of luck. Elzaan
You'll be stitching away in the new place before you know it! It's been fun to share this adventure with you. When we move I quit making my bed too, there really doesn't seem to be any sense in it at that point, besides, who's going to see it anyway? Good luck with the auction and on the big moving day. You'll definitely be in our prayers!
Cindy
P.S. Have I told you we plan on downsizing and doing this very thing in the next couple of years? Maybe that's why I find it so interesting.
my best wishes for you new home. Next christmas it will better.
Many greetings, Marita
Prayers being said for a safe journey. Off to a new adventure......How Grand........
Some sort of Christmas decoration will find a way into your new home.

Hey Kaaren, haven't read any blogs for a big due to reno's we are going through. So you are moving ot NS... how cool is that!! I live in NB... actually in Saint Marie which is 6 klm from Bouctouche... 40 minutes from Moncton... are you from NS? where in NS are you moving... was in Halifax just last weekend...lol.... we call NS "God's country" for it's beauty!
It looks like the worst is over, now all the fun things start. Take your time, enjoy yourself and everything will get done. Have fun on your new adventure.
It is getting closer. Wishing you a happy move.
If I didn't know better, I'd say I was watching a re-run of our move last year! I'll tell you from experience that you won't miss not doing Christmas this year - we sure didn't! What with unpacking, painting and decorating it went by very fast and we treated ourselves to a nice Christmas dinner out! By this time next year you'll be where we are this year, Kaaren - having a blast decorating for the holidays! Know that we are sending lots of good wishes for a safe and perfect move!
Cheers!
Almost there, and then we can watch the magic as you settle in your new home. I am sure there will be many new inspirations for us all..wishing you happy thoughts, and smooth unpacking.
It is stunning how many boxes "stuff" can fill. Glad almost all of that is done and you'll get to take your time once in the new place. Weeks of disarray surely gets demoralizing, but soon it will be made into home. Good luck!
Good luck with your move!♥
Good luck with the move Kaaren! At least you are half way done.
Hope you settle in soon!
Micki
Best of luck to you. It's a weary, back breaking job to move.
Just think of all the fun you will have finding the "perfect" place for all your wonderful things.
Hugs,
Hope the move went well and that the weather cooperated. Happy unpacking and look forward to updates of your new life on the East Coast.
It's good to see your sense of humor is intact. I certainly understand what you have been going through. I'm living amongst the jungle of boxes myself. Next Wednesday is my moving day. Keep us posted on your progress. I'm looking forward to pictures of your new home.
