Decorating With Quilts and Thanks!

At the outset, I would like to thank you all for the overwhelming response to my Raggedy & Friends BOM.  As of this morning, there have been over 1,500 individual downloads of Block 1, which really blows me away.  All I can say is, “WOW!”

For those of you who may have missed the initial post, there will be links to each block as they become available at the top of the right sidebar on my blog.  Block 1 is there now.

And speaking of Block 1, Betty of luv2sew wrote to tell me that she has already completed her first block and has given me permission to share it with you.  She is doing hers in 1930’s fabrics.  How cute is this!

Betty's Block 1

How’s that for speedy stitching and sewing?  Bravo, Betty!

Now to get back on track and to the subject of this post.

I love to include quilts in my everyday decorating because they tend to add ambiance and also suggest that warmth and comfort lie within.  Just the other day as I was looking around our home, a sense of calm enveloped me as I took in some of the quilts.  Please join me for a little tour.

I know I’ve missed some but just seeing these photos again of some of the quilts that grace our home gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling.  There’s nothing like a quilt(s) to make a house a home.

Happy stitching!

Kaaren ♥

You already know how I feel about your Raggedy & Friends! :-)

Thank you so much for a tour of your beautiful home. This is exactly why we quilt. :-) I need to really get serious about saving my nickles, dimes, quarters and dollars because I want to visit you, your sweet hubby, Mac and your lovely home. Dream!

And I love that you were able to share a completed Raggedy block already.30's fabrics seem just perfect for this, and now I think I may have to be a copy cat! I'm so glad you got permission to give us this peek.

I love your quilts all over...just like my house. And I have quilts in crocks too. I love that crock with the bird! Thanks for the look around. It's so wonderful to be surrounded by quilts.

The 30's fabrics that Betty used were a good choice. She was right on the ball getting her blocks done.
You have a lot of quilts for being fairly new to quilting. Are some purchased quilts? I like very much how you have quilts displayed. A good use for smaller quilts in several of your displays.

WHat great timing showing the raggedy's in 1930's fabrics. I have been debating on civil war or '30's fabrics. I am not too good at imagining the different colour ways for projects. This has definitely sold me!
Love the way you have decorated with your quilts. So gorgeous-am quite partial to your hexagon quilt.
thanks for the tour.

Kaaren, Thanks for sharing all the beautiful quilts and the BOM I can't wait to start mine. I have a question I just finished a large quilt and have a picture on my blog candlebarncrafts.blogspot.com
if you have a chance to take a look the picture doesn't show it well but the navy faded on the white. I always wash my quilts in woolite and cold water after I complete them and this is the frist one that has faded. Do you have any ideal how to get the fade out? Kathy

I've got some nice ideas. I live in a country with non-quilting tradition, so decorate with quilts is unusual. Some days ago my students asked me why I don't use my quilts to decorate, now I know how to do it.
