Amy of Park City Girl organized an Online Quilt Festival.
Her idea is for us to share one of our favorite quilts, give the story behind it then link back to her blog. In this way everyone has the opportunity to view quilts from all over the world from the comfort of their own homes and to read the stories behind them. Cool, huh?
My favorite quilt is derived from a pattern that was featured in the June 2008 issue of American Patchwork & Quilting.
The pattern is called "Sweet Retreat" and was designed by Holly Holderman of Lakehouse Dry Goods. In her design, Holly had included some large floral setting squares which I opted to leave out.
I knew when I started this quilt that it would be a challenge for me because I hadn’t been quilting for that long. It took me ten days from start to finish to cut it out and then piece it. Then off it went to the machine quilter’s.
The addition of Prairie Points framed the quilt very nicely.
This is my favorite quilt that I’ve made thus far in my still relatively short quilting journey. Hopefully there will be many more to follow.
Happy Stitching!

Kaaren, it's just beautiful. I love the prairie points! Each time you show peeks of your home I know it's a warm and inviting place to be.
Kaaren I love this quilt I just finished mine but I still have to quilt it. I did mine is similar colours as yours but I made those triangels for the binding too LOL. My friend made one also in totally different colors and they look so different. I love yours. Way to go.
what a beautiful soft quilt. It looks so good on the bed and the quilting on it is wonderful too. You must be proud of this one.

Very beautiful! I just love feminine quilts with lots of white! Having three boys, I do not use white...ever! lol! Your work is always an inspiration!
That's lovely! But oh so intimidating to me, lol! Prairie points too, my gosh I'm so impressed.

Oh Kaaren that is so lovely. I love the sweetness and the colors in the quilt. The white showcases the pattern.
Went looking for the magazine...don't have it or somebody borrowed it never to return. No big deal....one less quilt I'll worry about. OR...it will keep nagging me enough to ask guild buds. :-) Came back here to tell you this, spotted it again...and oh my!!
I love that quilt! It is so soft and fresh looking!
